Holman quest to play not over

While the California Interscholastic Federation (CIF) did not give him the
decision he wanted last week, the door may not yet be closed for Indiana signee
Eli Holman. The senior was suspended early in his junior season last year
after making contact with a referee deemed as inappropriate. Richmond High
School assistant coach Lonnie Coleman said yesterday that the CIF authorities
did not have access to documents and other evidence to show all that Holman has
done in the interim to prove maturity and other factors that would play into the
appeal process.

"Wasn't the most accurate information and we are appealing that decision,"
said Coleman. "He has support from the head of the referee association out
there, he has support from a lot of the community leaders."

The coach even says they have gotten a sympathetic ear from at least one
member of the CIF.
