Coach Hill and staff see top prospects

Rutgers coach Freddie Hill and staff held their annual Skill Development Camp Tuesday through Thursday at the Nets' practice facility in East Rutherford, NJ. In addition to the Rutgers coaching staff, Nets assistant Tom Barrise was among the other instructors.

Some of the top players in the state were among the campers working on their games. That list included Rashod Bishop and Zach Rosen of state power St. Benedict's. Both players are currently being recruited by the Scarlet Knights. Bishop is a scoring wing with a nice stroke and good athleticism who is taking a post-grad season after starring at Paterson Kennedy, and Rosen has transferred to Benedict's from Colonia High School. Rosen is a pure point guard who missed his junior season with injury

A few of the top in-state juniors on hand were 6-foot-3 Kyle Smyth of Don Bosco Prep, 6-foot-5 Mike Burwell of Cardinal McCarrick and 5-foot-11 RJ Hall of Bloomfield Tech. Top NJ 10th graders included 5-foot-8 Jimmy Burke of Seton Hall Prep and 6-foot-8 Kenny Click of Don Bosco.

Two of the players who traveled the furthest for the camp were two of the highest rated prospects, 6-foot-4 Jarrett Mann of Middletown DE and 6-foot-7 Austin Johnson of Cheltenham High School in Wyncotte PA. Mann is an athletic wing and Johnson a strong rebounder and inside scorer with range out to 16 feet. Both players are stars for the NJ based Playaz AAU program.
