Reed Quiets Critics

When it comes to prospects from the class of 2007, one name that's been on the UNC radar for quite some time has been Tyrel Reed from Burlington, Kan. The 6-3 guard has had an evolution of sorts over the spring and summer circuit. He was a player with plenty of media attention early on, but as is the case with most prospects from the Midwest, the east coast fans wanted to see if he could hold his own versus the nation's elite. And over the summer - he did just that.


And then some.


College coaches, recruiting analysts and other forms of basketball media evaluated the slender ace for KC Pump 'N Run's AAU program. And they're coming away with glowing reports.


"Tyrel Reed is a guy that isn't going blow your socks off with blazing speed or jump out of the gym athleticism," said Justin Young, Rivals.com recruiting analyst. "But what he is going to do is play smart basketball, hit open shots and win basketball games. If I'm looking for a point guard, that is what I'd want my guy to have."
