Alford close to landing top prospect?

The recruiting efforts for the Iowa Hawkeyes certainly received a huge boost last month with the signing of Top 50 prospect Tyler Smith for the 2006 season. Now, Steve Alford and his staff are moving their focus to 2007-08 and hope to see their recent success continue at the upcoming Iowa Elite Camp.

One of the top AAU programs, Indiana Elite, will bring several of their players to Iowa City in a few weeks and there could be at least one big time commitment on the way.

According to Indiana Elite's 16-and-under head coach, Alford might be on the brink of getting a verbal pledge from a big man for San Antonio, via Cameroon in 7-footer Beas Hamga, who is part of the Class of 2008.


In addition to Iowa, Hamga also has written offers from Arizona, Texas, UNLV, Indiana, Iowa State, and Wake Forest.
