Reed to hone skills away from circuit

While several of the nation's top players will be in action all over the country, one of the top guards in the '07 class will be off. Burlington, Kan., combo guard Tyrel Reed plans to take the next month off from the circuit.


"He's going to be away for a few weeks and run track," Stacy Reed, Tyrel's father and Burlington's coach. "After that, he's going to take some time off and get his ankle fully healed."


Reed sprained his left ankle at the month's initiation but fought through the injury last weekend to earn MVP at the Jayhawk Invitational in leading his KC Pump 'N Run to the event's championship.
