Has Iowa State offered Minn. PF?
A strong start to the spring AAU season has paid recruiting dividends for a state of Minnesota power forward. Iowa State is among the schools ramping up its interest in Orono's Jon Leuer in a big way of late. Does Leuer have a Cyclone scholarship offer? We talked to his high school coach to get more information.
The 6-foot-9, 215-pound Leuer was certainly a known commodity before the Kingwood Classic in Houston in late April and last week's Magic Invite in his home state of Minnesota. But he performed so well in both events that he's quickly become much more than a small blip on the recruiting radar.
"It's been very hectic," said Mike Amos, who was Leuer's head coach at Orono last season but will not be continuing in that position. "Rice, Illinois State, Iowa State, The U (Minnesota), half the Missouri Valley at least. Everyone has been calling, those are just a few I can think of. About 80 percent of the schools that have called have offered him, I bet. You'd have to talk to Jon and his dad to be sure, but I know there have been some offers."
