Cavs, Chapman sharing plenty of mutual interest

When Dave Leitao took over as Virginia's basketball coach, he said he and his staff would use the same approach to recruiting that UConn had utilized in building a championship program, that being to recruit nationally. That mindset is certainly evident in UVa's interest level in Clint Chapman, a rapidly improving 6-foot-10, 240-pound post player from Canby, Ore.

Chapman is a player who has had a great start to the spring AAU schedule, and he was one of the most surprising performers at the Real Deal on the Hill event in Arkansas last month.

And based on that performance and his outstanding size, Chapman is becoming a high priority for several major programs.

He has improved his post game dramatically in the last several months and has become a physical presence in the paint. But Chapman still has the ability to step away from the basket and knock down the face-up jumper.
