South Laurel guard drawing UK interest
Several point guards in the Class of 2007 list Kentucky among their schools of interest. One who hasn't received a lot of publicity is just down the road from Lexington at South Laurel High School. His name is Ty Proffitt, and he's quietly becoming a serious option for UK.
Rumors swirled that Proffitt (6-3, 185) was close to committing, but that is a bit premature. Kentucky coaches watched Proffitt several times this season, but he has yet to receive a scholarship offer from the Cats. Whether he makes it to Kentucky or not, one thing is certain: Proffitt can play.
"Ty knows how to play," said South Laurel coach Steve Wright. "He keeps his head up at all times, knows how to get the ball to people. He's just really smart and he's good. A smart player that can play."
