New York offensive lineman scheduled to vist Army

With 3-star OL prospect Patrick Joseph already committed to Army, the Black Knights continue to press forward in an attempt to pull down at least 4-5 solid offensive line recruits for the 2013 class.

One player that is only 45 minutes from the historic West Point campus is center Devlin Brennan out of Our Lady of Lourdes.

The 6-foot-3, 280 pounder, is one of the top prospects on the Army recruiting radar coming out of the Black Knights' home state of New York.

Brennan, who has been following Army recruiting will get an opportunity to see the Army football program and the campus up close and personal next week, as the New York state prospect explains.

"I heard about Joseph (Patrick) and read up on him on GoBlackKnights.com," says Brennan, who's recruiting is being handled by offensive line coach, William Tripp. "Army is fairly high on my list and I'm visiting there on the 18th (July). I spoke to Coach Tripp yesterday and I was scheduling my visit to Army."

"I want to take a look at the lifestyle that I'm probably going to have to deal with if I do go with the service academy."

In the past, Our Lady of Lourdes has been a totally run oriented offense, but according to Brennan, the 2012 season will offer a blend of passing to offset the rush majority offense.

"I think Army's style (run oriented triple option) fits me perfectly," he adds. "I mean, run blocking suits me, I know how to do it well and take pride doing it. "My get off .... off the ball. I pride myself on being faster than other guys in that little five yard area at the line of scrimmage ... it kind of gives me the edge."

In addition to offense, Brennan plays defensive end, but according to the aggressive lineman, the offensive side is his heart is and where most school are projecting him to play. "I'm an offensive player and I like it a lot more. I'm a center - guard, but Army want to me at center."

To date, Brennan has offers from Army and Bucknell, as well as picking a more reason Ivy League school offer. "I camped at Dartmouth on June 24th and they offered me that day," declares Brennan, who also has his eye on a New York state high school championship.

"I've just been going to practice with my team ... working out, lifting and staying strong," he says. "It's kind of like open gym, it's unofficial."

"We think we can win the state championship, which is promising for Brennan and his teammates who finished 6-3 and lost in the sectional championship."
