Kenny impressed by Iowa

Indiana linebacker John Kenny made his first visit to Iowa this weekend with a two-day stay in Iowa City to watch the Hawkeyes at work in spring practice. The 6-foot-2, 210-pound Kenny says that he was impressed with the atmosphere at Iowa and the coaching staff, who wants him to fill a need at outside linebacker in this recruiting class. The three-star prospect talks about the trip, when he might make a decision, and much more.

Q: What were some of the things you got to do at Iowa this weekend?

KENNY: Well, first we met with Coach Doyle and talked about the strength and conditioning program. Then I had a meeting with Coach Ferentz, Coach Johnson, and Coach Woods, and just hung out with them. I got to go into some meetings with the players, watch practice, and met with all of the academic people too. Then on Saturday, it was more laid back, just hanging out with the coaches and the players, and I watched their spring game. It was a really good time.

Q: That was your first time out there right? What were the overall impressions that you took away from the visit?

KENNY: Yeah, that was the first time I'd ever been there and I thought it was awesome. The people were really nice there, just down to earth and real with you, not telling you lies like some other schools might do. Coach Woods, the linebackers coach, was awesome. In the meeting with him, we went over the depth chart, and we talked about playing time and everything. Coach Johnson is always really nice and while we were there, he made us feel really comfortable. Then Coach Ferentz is one of the coolest guys that I've ever talked to. He's like a legend, but he was really easy to talk to.
