McDonald, Hala'api'api Commit to UW

UW head coach Dave Christensen's staff continued a big week in high school commitments when two more players verballed the 2012 class.

Lawton, Oklahoma athlete Adrian McDonald and Kaimuki, Hawaii Linebacker Siaosi Hala'api'api plan to sign with the Cowboys on February 1st on national signing day.

McDonald was offered a scholarship by the Cowboys back in July after visiting his home this summer and the long relationship paid off after the 5-11 and 170 prospect made an official visit to Laramie.

"The colleges recruiting me like my athleticism and speed, and versatility to play at different positions," said McDonald. "I'm really wanted to find a program I fit best and could show my talents."

McDonald plays quarterback at the high school level and it should benefit him in understand the bigger picture of the game.

Because of the Eisenhower High School products versatility, he could be evaluated at several positions including defense, though he'll likely end up on offense at Wyoming as a wide receiver.

"I like touching the ball and making people miss in the open field," said McDonald "But I think I'm athletic enough and durable to play corner."

Christensen made a recruiting trip to Hawaii this week and looked to open some inroads to an area with lots of talent, and the Pokes received only their second commitment in several years from the Islands when Hala'api'api committed to Wyoming.

The Hawaiian is a 6-foot-2 and 220 pound player who is an active, athletic linebacker who plays with a motor.

Wyoming picked up nine commitments since last week and have 14 verbals and three prospect that have signed to-date.
