Griffin set for junior season

Rosenberg (Texas) Terry tight end Derrick Griffin will be one of the more sought-after prospects in the 2013 class, and he's already ready receiving interest from some of college football's heavy hitters.

"I haven't really gotten full on into the recruiting yet, but have heard from some different programs," Griffin said. "I'm hearing from Texas Tech, Texas A&M, Oregon, Oklahoma, USC, and Baylor."

Griffin camped at Texas Tech and Oklahoma during the summer.

"Those camps were a lot of fun," he said. "They did a lot of passing at the Texas Tech camp and that was great. We got to have a lot of one-on-one time with the coaches and do a lot of route running. I had a good time there."

The 6-foot-6, 215-pounder has continued to remain in contact with the coaching staff in Lubbock.

"Yes, sir. I talk pretty often with them I guess. we've got a pretty good relationship and I've liked what I've learned about them so far."

Griffin plans on focusing on his recruitment again once the season comes to an end.

"I'm going to kind of put it aside for a little bit," he said. "I'm not going to just shut it down during the year, but my focus is definitely on my team right now. I'll get back to really looking at my options after the season is over."
