Lammert hoping to visit Tech
San Antonio (Texas) Churchill power forward Connor Lammert recently picked up an offer from Texas Tech after a good showing at the Great American Shootout.
"Yes, sir. I talked with Coach Billy Gillispie on the phone for about fifteen minutes and he let me know that there would be an offer waiting for me there. I was excited and thankful to find out I have that opportunity."
Lammert has been able to visit with Coach Gillispie on a couple of occasions, and he's familiar with the head coach's resume.
"I've gotten to visit with Coach Gillispie maybe two or three times on the phone, but my brother Clark is going there as a walk-on so I've gotten pretty familiar with their program. We've got a pretty good relationship with their coaches," he said. "I've grown up watching Coach Gillispie and I've seen him a lot on television. He's always been able to put together some pretty talented teams, and they're also always very disciplined and hard working. I think he's a great coach."
The 6-foot-9 standout has yet to visit Lubbock, but is "trying to schedule an unofficial visit in August." Aside from Tech, Lammert listed Texas, TCU, SMU, Texas A&M, Oklahoma State, Oklahoma, and Baylor.
"I don't necessarily have any leaders at this point. I'm still just evaluating everything and keeping my options open," he said. "I am interested in Tech and I've got family up there now. I've been playing forever with my brother so him being there makes the situation pretty intriguing."
"I haven't really gotten too far into when I'd like to make a decision. I'm probably going to want to get it done before my season starts, if possible. I don't specifically have a timeline in place right now, though."
