Bell very interested in Iowa

The Iowa Basketball team will be on the hunt for a point guard in the Class of 2012 and one target they have already identified is Ka'Darryl Bell from Oak Park, IL. The 6-foot-1 point guard picked up an offer from the Hawkeyes last fall and they remain one of his lead schools heading into the summer evaluation period.

"Coach Andrew Francis has been recruiting me from Iowa," Bell said. "I went to visit there before this past season and they offered me a scholarship. I am real interested in Iowa, but at the same time I am open to other schools."

Bell said that he heard from Coach Francis again last week and he told Bell that they are still very interested in him and want to get him on campus again for a visit.

The other schools that have already offered include: Ohio and Drake. He has also been getting increased interest from major programs.

"I've been hearing from Boston College, Florida State, Butler, and Wichita State this spring. They haven't offered yet. All of them say that they want to see me play in July."

Bell says he would like to make his college choice by the end of the summer, so the July evaluation period when coaches will be in the gym watching will be the deciding factor as to whether he picks up more offers.

"It's going to be a real important time for me. I have to play well and from there I will find out who is really interested in me and who isn't," he said.

This spring, Bell has been playing on the AAU circuit with Full Package Elite. After a strong junior season at Oak Park River Forest High School, he feels like his overall game continues to improve.

"I feel like the spring has gone pretty well for me," Bell said. "As a point guard, I try to keep everyone involved as a pass first, score second point guard. I've really worked on my shooting and feel like it has improved."
