Ojemudia surprised by offer
Farmington Hills (Mich.) Harrison defensive end Mario Ojemudia is one of the top prospects in Michigan and Syracuse wants to continue there recent success in that state by grabbing the dynamic prospect.
"I was surprised by the Syracuse offer because I had never heard from Syracuse at all before I received the offer."
Even thought the Orange knew about Ojemudia the Michigan product did not have the same interest, but he did know a little bit about the school.
"I really did not know what to think at the time because I never really knew much about the Syracuse football program. I always knew about their basketball."
With the Orange trying to become a presence in Michigan Tyrone Wheatley is heading the recruitment for this defensive product.
"I talk to Coach Wheatley a lot now that they have offered. He is a cool guy," Ojemudia said. "We have a good relationship and we talk a lot. We talk about football and life. He told me that I should probably think about visiting for a spring practice or the spring game. He also said that he would come out and see me in the spring."
Ojemudia, 6-foot-3, 215 pounds is versatile enough to play a few positions on defense, but the Orange would like to see him stay at defensive end.
"They want me as a defensive end. They like my speed, my motor, and the fact that I never quit on plays."
For the most part right now all the schools looking at the prospect are even, but there is one program that sticks out just a bit over the rest.
"I like Michigan State a lot, but it is pretty much all even right now. I just grew up a fan of them."
A decision is not likely to come soon as the prospect is looking to do all of his research before he makes a choice.
"I am not really sure, but when I do commit I want to make sure I made all of my visits and have no doubt in my mind that I want to go to the school."
