White ready to set visits
Some of the big names of Mid-Major basketball are following Chaska (Minn.) forward Jake White. The 6-foot-7 prospect has targeted the month of June as a time to make some college visits.
"I'll be playing with 43 Hoops this summer," White said. "We are looking at having another pretty good season. We are going to Indiana this weekend and after that we will be off until July, so I am looking to make visits in June."
White holds scholarship offers from Colorado State, Northern Iowa and Wichita State and is also hearing from Butler. White said he hopes to find a school where he can get along with his head coach and he believes everything else will fall into place.
White has already been to Cedar Falls to see Northern Iowa and they do offer a coach he likes. White may be more familiar with UNI than any other school hoping to retain his services, having been to both camps and an unofficial visit to Cedar Falls.
"With UNI, I have talked to both Ben Johnson and Coach (Ben) Jacobson quite a bit," White said. "They seem like good coaches and a strong program obviously. They upset Kansas, so they just look like a great team."
Fellow Missouri Valley school Wichita State has also offered a scholarship and has keeps constant contact with White.
"They seem like one of those teams that is up-and-coming," White said. "I think they got ranked in the top-25 for home crowd (size). That is awesome. There is nothing better than playing in a packed home game."
The Colorado State Rams are hoping to et a visit from White this off-season to show him what they have to offer. That will be important due to the distance of Colorado State from Chaska.
I don't know too much about them, but I have spoken with Coach (Tim) Miles and Coach Niko (Medved) and they seem like good guys," White said. "I am still looking to find out more about the school and learn more about them."
