Perry Ellis becoming a star

When Perry Ellis first stepped foot on the campus of Wichita (KS) Heights High School, greats things were immediately expected. The 6-foot-8, 210-pound small forward certainly didn't disappoint. In fact, you could say that Ellis, both on the court and in the classroom, passed with flying colors. On the hardwood, Ellis has received three scholarship offers, one coming from Kansas. Jayhawk Slant recently spoke to the 2012 star about life, basketball and a variety of other topics.

This past season, Ellis averaged 19.2 points, 11.7 rebounds, and 1.3 assists per game. He shot 61 percent from the field and connected on 65 percent of his free-throws. Ellis became the only freshman in the country to earn state Gatorade Player of the Year honors.
