Five-star center is set to visit UGA officially

With the AAU season coming to an end, five-star center Derrick Favors can look back and say he made the most of his time. From his monster performance in the Real Deal on the Hill, to leading his talented Atlanta Celtics to the prestigious Bob Gibbons TOC title, and multiple elite camps in between, the talented big man is now ready to begin the visits to determine his college of choice.

"I [officially] visit UGA this week and Georgia Tech sometime in September, I am just looking to enjoy myself at both places. I have seen both before, so I know what to expect."

The leader of the Atlanta Celtics has enjoyed playing in some big games over the past couple of months. The level of play has been tough, but Favors says it has been vital to his progression as a player.

"Winning the Bob Gibbons tournament was huge; I have wanted that since I was a kid. It was crazy because I won it on a bad shot that just happened to go in. I have used this summer to work on my jump shot. I think I have improved in that area as well as my ball-handling. I have noticed that my strength has increased as well."

While he has been to Athens, he has only seen the court most of the time. The South Atlanta phenom will now get a chance to see more of his potential future campus.

"Yeah, I have not really seen anything outside of the gym. I am interested to not only see the campus, but also the town of Athens."

Will the small town atmosphere discourage the big city star from wanting to attend UGA?
