Mean Road Test

Oklahoma State won its 2007-08 season opener last week, but the season is already heading toward the pits.

Well, the Super Pit, anyway. Tonight, the Cowboys hit the road for the northern edge of the Metroplex, where OSU (1-0) will take on a North Texas squad which made the NCAA Tournament last season. The game is set for a 7 p.m. tipoff and will be broadcast on Fox Sports Southwest in Oklahoma City and Stillwater. Northeastern Oklahoma will be able to watch the game on KMYT-41.

Tonight's game against the Mean Green is the start of a two-and-a-half week stretch where the Pokes will be away from Orange Country. The Cowboys head to Hawaii after this game to take part in the Maui Invitational next week. They won't be back in Stillwater until a Dec. 1 game against Washington.

OSU head coach Sean Sutton realizes what a tough game this will be for his young squad.

"I've seen North Texas on film," Sutton said. "Last year they were in the NCAA Tournament. They played Memphis tough for 34 or 35 minutes. Just the fact that last year's team never won a true road game - we won a lot of neutral-site games - and the fact that they're good. It's going to be a tough game. But if we win, I would consider it a big win."

The Pokes got the season off on the right foot last Friday, defeating Prairie View A&M 104-48.
