Hairston and Thornton display impressive synergy

September 25, 2007 - During the recent Charlie Weber Maryland Invitational, DC Assault's newly promoted 16 and under boys travel team did major work, winning the event in fine fashion.

It's not surprising, as the team, coached by Zach Suber, has sandwiched two other tournament titles around the Maryland Invitational victory: Adidas' Super 64 in July, and last weekend's Hoop Group Fall Jam Fest.

To say they are finishing the travel team season cooking is an understatement.

One key to their dominating run has been the joint exploits of high school sophomores Joshua Hairston and Tyler Thornton. Hailing from Fredericksburg, Va., and Reston, Va., respectively, the 6-foot-7 Hairston and 6-foot-1 Thornton work well together, displaying a synergy generally reserved for players who have competed side-by-side over a considerable period of time.
