A&M opens Big 12 tournament with Oklahoma State
The Big 12 conference tournament opened Thursday, but No. 2 seed Texas A&M won't get underway until 6 p.m. Friday when they take on seventh-seeded Oklahoma State, a winner over No. 10 seed Nebraska, at the Ford Center in Oklahoma City.
No. 7 A&M (25-5, 13-3 Big 12) has its highest seed ever in the Big 12 tournament, and could parlay this into its highest seed ever in the NCAA tournament. But a win over Oklahoma State (21-11, 7-10) is a must if the Aggies hope to hold onto a No. 2 seed in the NCAA tournament.
The Cowboys, meanwhile, need a big win over A&M to have any chance at a NCAA tournament berth. After a colossal collapse down the stretch Oklahoma State has played their way out of the bracket. This weekend in front of an Oklahoma State dominated crowd in Oklahoma City the Cowboys will need to beat A&M, and most likely a few more to have a chance..
A&M is hoping to get by the Cowboys for a semifinal rematch with archrival Texas, who plays Baylor after the A&M-OSU game, but first the Aggies must take care of an Oklahoma State team that has everything to play for.
