Auburn back in action after 9-day break
And they're back.
It's not just that Saturday's game against Wofford marks the Auburn basketball team's return from a nine-day layoff. It's also likely to be the highly anticipated debut of freshman guard Kelvin Lewis.
Lewis, a 6-foot-4, 175-pounder from Dallas, was one of the bright spots of last season's signing class. AU head coach Jeff Lebo said Lewis was one of his five best players in the preseason, before the rookie suffered a stress fracture in his right foot.
That injury sidelined Lewis for Auburn's first 10 games.
It also complicated Lebo's job.
AU (7-3) entered the season without forwards Josh Dollard and Quan Prowell. Dollard returned Nov. 28; Prowell is slated to be back for Monday's game against Tennessee State.
Working Dollard in wasn't too difficult: His return gave Auburn another interior scoring threat and a valuable defensive helper for center Korvotney Barber.
But finding a balance of playing time for the Tigers' current eight regulars plus Lewis and Prowell could be tougher.
