Johnny Thomas approaches decision time

One of the big surprises of the Tournament of Champions AAU Tournament was 6-foot-5, 210-pound wing forward Johnny Thomas of Greensboro (N.C.) Day High.

Thomas averaged over 15 points a game en route to all tournament honors. His 18-point, 12-rebound performance against World Wide Renegades, featuring five-star forward J.J. Hickson, earned rave reviews.

"Thomas is a classic case of high school power forward turned AAU wing," Rivals.com basketball recruiting analyst Justin Young wrote. "His grittiness gained at the high school level served him well against bigger and stronger big men. Thomas challenged opposing frontlines and caused headaches with consistent jumpers. He certainly displayed a skill set that ranks him amongst the best prospects in the Southeast."
