TU players working hard
Bustle is not a word normally associated with fall and winter sports in the month of June. Football has two-a-days in fall, drills in spring. Basketball has midnight madness in the appropriate month and exhibitions in November, before the action "on the record" begins.
On Monday night on east 11th street, three different venues were in action. At Skelly Stadium, Steve Kragthorpe and company were hosting various high school football teams in one of several team camps. The sound of pads slapping and coaches exhorting effort out of every step was in the air.
Those strolling down Glenn Dobbs Boulevard in search of amusement could see the progress on the Case Center clearly under Skelly Stadium's lights. The steel structure is now rising to the third floor. The expanding footprint is being marked to include the landscaping connecting it to the east and west stands. And finally, the old apartments west of the stadium are no more. The land is cleared for occupancy by the future.
