Unofficial visit impresses Rohde family

Though they have only been in Tempe less than a month, new ASU coach Herb Sendek and his staff has put an emphasis on the importance of doing a great job recruiting the Phoenix area, in an effort to cultivate local talent, build important relationships, and endear themselves to those in the community.

If the unofficial visit that 2008 standout Taylor Rohde and his family took to the school on Monday is any indication, it is a strategy that is already working and paying dividends.

In the last two weeks alone, ASU coaches have seen Rohde play on at least six separate occasions between two Las Vegas AAU tournaments and a workout at Pinnacle High, where the 15 year-old sophomore played a critical role in guiding the Pioneers to the 4A Division I semifinals last season.

That work ethic did not go unnoticed and the Rohde family elected to visit the Tempe campus unofficially on Monday. Rohde's father, Monty Rohde, spoke with immediately following the visit.
