A look at the Bruins and the Beavers

Sean Mannion takes the reigns

It's been a tough first two weeks for Beaver Nation, but after the bye week the return of Joe Halahuni, Donell Welch and James Rodgers may give OSU a much needed boost as they open the inaugural Pac-12 season and play host to 1-2 UCLA.

Here's how Coach Rick Neuheisel's crew matches up on paper as OSU looks for the first W of the 2011 season:

Quarterback

Sean Mannion has been named the starter by Coach Riley and the redshirt freshman should feel much more comfortable at home with the Reser crowd behind him. Mannion played admirably at Camp Randall, but failed to put any points on the board. With quality game experience and two weeks to run with the 1's, Beaver fans are hoping to see improvement in Mannion.

For the powder blue, Richard Brehaut has been tabbed the starter by Coach Neuheisel. Brehaut has started one game, but played in all three and is yet another mobile QB that OSU will need to contain. Brehaut is UCLA's third leading rusher, averaging 43.3 yards per game and one score. Throwing the ball, his 54.4 completion percentage won't scare anyone, but his zero interceptions in 68 attempts is worth noting.

Advantage: Push - Mannion is still very young and at some point it will show, and while Brehaut has experience, he's never been consistent.
