Caruso picks up Tech offer

This week saw College Station (Texas) Texas A&M Consolidated shooting guard Alex Caruso add to his list of options with an offer from Texas Tech.

"Our relationship started just after Coach Billy Gillispie was hired at Texas Tech. After he got his staff going he sent one of his assistant coaches, Coach Chris Walker, out to recruit me. We've talked on Facebook and stuff like that since then," Caruso said. "My relationship with Coach Walker is good, and I've known Coach Gillispie for a little while now since he was at Texas A&M and I was a ball-boy. I talked to him some then and went to his camps. I know a lot about Coach Gillispie. I know he's going to win games and I know he's going to get the best out of his players. A visit to Tech could possibly be in my future, but I'm not one-hundred percent sure."

At this point Caruso doesn't have any visit plans made, but he'd like to get some set as the summer winds down.

"I don't have anything planned right now. I'm talking to a couple of schools that I'm leaning towards, but I don't have anything planned yet," he said. "I'm trying to get some things narrowed down by the time school starts."

The 2012 target highlighted Colorado and Texas A&M as two teams standing out to him so far. An opportunity for success will be an important part of any potential destination.

"I've got to be somewhere that we can win ball games. I'm too much of a competitor to go to a place where we're going to lose. The team camaraderie and the support from the fans is important too. I just want to be a part of an exciting program, and one that will have a chance to win a lot of games."

Aside from Tech, Caruso currently holds offers from Arizona State, Creighton, Nebraska, and Texas A&M.
