Preview: Toledo had a game to forget when they hosted Eastern Michigan on Saturday evening. After a three-game winning streak in the middle of December the Rocket offense has stagnated, averaging just 43.7 points in the last three contests, all losses by 22 points or more. Reese Holliday had a solid outing, 13 points and 12 rebounds for the freshman guard, but there wasn't enough help up and down the roster as three players combined for 37 points on 15-34 shooting, while the rest of the team scored 11 on 3-16. A young Toledo front line was introduced to MAC play with EMU owning a 43-30 advantage on the glass.
The Rockets will try to recover in time to face Central Michigan, hosting its first MAC game at McGuirk Arena. The Chippewas are another team that has struggled to put the ball in the hole and this game will be a match-up of the two lowest-scoring teams in the league. In their opener with Western Michigan, the Chips were able to hang around and force overtime by holding their own on the boards and committing only seven turnovers, but in the end CMU just couldn't knock down enough shots to get the win. As a team Central Michigan made only one of 14 three-pointers, and senior Jalin Thomas struggled in particular, going 3-18 from the floor. Trey Zeigler had a strong debut, going 42 minutes and leading the Chippewas offense with 22 points. Ball movement continues to be an issue for CMU, who only had five assists on 22 made baskets.
Central Michigan: 66
