Winston Shepard braces for busy July

Winston Shepard, the number 5 overall player in the class of 2012 by Rivals.com (ESPN didn't rank him in their top 60...we'll get to that later), is a busy body on and off the court.

At the Bob Gibbons Tournament of Champions in North Carolina, he injured his ankle, but that didn't stop him from working out and trying to get better.

"I'm good, man," he said with obvious relief. "Actually, I played in a city league (Wednesday) night, and I played real good. I scored 20 points with eight rebounds. So yeah, I did real good, man. I'm pretty much back to my old self, but I keep addressing the ankle; trying to get it back to 100 percent.

"I'm pretty much back to 85 or 90 percent. It's somewhere in there."

With so much time spent traveling from one venue to the next, one would think that family would be essential to keeping your sanity in check. This is the case with Shepard. He's a family-oriented person, and whenever he has something he needs to talk about, he goes straight to his mom.
