SAN ANTONIO - Despite some late buzz for another contender, five-star DE Jonathan Bullard pulled the expected in announcing his commitment during the U.S. Army All-American Bowl broadcast.
Florida won out for the Shelby (N.C.) Crest star over Clemson and South Carolina. Bullard made official visits to all three programs this fall as he narrowed the list down to three finalists heading into this week.
"When coach (Will) Muschamp first got the job he called me, maybe the next day, and he's been recruiting me very hard himself," Bullard told Rivals.com earlier this week. "When the head coach recruits you real hard, that's gotta be a factor to you. They've also got coach (Bryant) Young and coach (Dan) Quinn with NFL experience. Coach Young played in the NFL for a long time."
Five-star offensive tackle and fellow U.S. Army All-American Bowl participant D.J. Humphries is also committed to Florida. Phillips and Kent Taylor, a tight end, are also suiting up for the East squad in this year's game.
Rivals.com rates Bullard the No. 20 prospect overall and No. 3 strong side defensive end. Only Florida State commitment Mario Edwards and Darius Hamilton rank higher at the position.
