Vols Make Push With Elite Junior Prospect
Tennessee is dealing with the loss of Chris Lofton on the court at the moment for the next few games, but the Volunteer coaching staff is already hard at work in addressing how they'll deal with his loss after the '08 season. The staff's most concerted efforts in that regard right now are focused on Memphis junior Elliot Williams, one of the top shooting guards in the 2008 class.
Williams (6-foot-4, 170 pounds), from St. George Academy, was in Knoxville this past weekend for an unofficial visit as the Vols hosted South Carolina. It was his first trip to Tennessee's campus, and the trip opened his eyes to what the program has become under Bruce Pearl's direction.
Williams is a high priority for several other programs as well. He's already pared his list down to an early top-five list of suitors (each of whom have offered) that he's primarily looking at right now. Tennessee, Virginia, Memphis, Clemson and Vanderbilt are under consideration.
