Green Picks Charlotte!
Gulf Coast College point guard Derrio Green ended his recruitment Monday as he announced he will attend Charlotte.
Green had offers on the table from George Washington and Georgia but his visit to Charlotte was instrumental in his decision making process.
"I felt at home with the players," said an excited Green. "They wanted me to come there. I felt like I was really wanted and their playing style fits me the best."
Green also said that he loved the campus and the facilities. "The gym was incredible," he said.
A point guard's best friend(s) is a good front court and Green likes the potential he sees with Phil Jones, Shamari Spears, and incoming freshmen Chris Braswell and K.J. Sherrill.
"[They] can score at anytime," he said. "It's not very hard to get down there and throw the big man the ball and let them do their thing."
Green also believes that the Niners have the talent to get back to the NCAA Tournament next season. "I feel they have the talent and hopefully I can help them get there," he said. "They got all the pieces in place. They got a big man who can score, they got good shooters, and with DiJuan hopefully we can run the team and get us to the tournament."
Associate Head Coach Rob Moxley was Green's primary recruiter.
Green will have three years of eligibility remaining and is ready to get here. "I'm excited to get down there and work," he said.
