Davidson | Wisconsin | Players | The Word | Advantage |
| | A.J. Price vs. Trevon Hughes, PG | Though Hughes is coming off a 25-point performance against Kansas State, Richards averages eight assists per game, the top mark in the country. He also ranks 12th in college basketball with a 2.71-to-1 assist to turnover ratio. | Advantage: Davidson |
|
| Craig Austrie vs. Jason Bohannon, SG | Curry is no longer an unknown after scoring 70 points and shooting 52 percent from 3-point range in his first two games. This match-up should be one of the best so far in the tournament. | Advantage: Davidson |
| | Jerome Dyson vs. Joe Krabbenhoft SF | Though the "glue guy" term has been vastly overused this season when describing Krabbenhoft, it's difficult to think of a better way to describe the all-Big Ten defender. Gosselin plays a very similar role for Davidson, but he does not match Krabbnehoft's production on the glass. | Advantage: Wisconsin |
| | Jeff Adrien vs. Marcus Landry, PF | Going from Michael Beasley to Thomas Sander should be "different" to say the least. Landry continues to stay hot after being named the Big Ten Tournament MVP. | Advantage: Wisconsin |
| | Hasheem Thabeet vs. Keaton Nankivil, C | Butch, Wisconsin's leading scorer and rebounder during the regular season, should be able to use his 3-inch advantage in the post. | Advantage: Wisconsin |
| | Kemba Walker (pictured), Gavin Edwards, Donnell Beverly and Charles Okwandu vs. Tim Jarmusz, Jon Leuer (pictured), Jordan Taylor and Robert Wilson, Bench | Though Stiemsma is coming off one of his most effective games of the season, he must be able to provide solid minutes against teams without a true center (ie: Davidson). Davidson is deep off the bench, but they do not have the scoring threat Wisconsin has with Bohannon. | Advantage: Wisconsin |
| | Jim Calhoun vs. Bo Ryan, Head coach | Give McKillop credit for brining in Curry, whose only Division I interest came in the form of a walk-on opportunity from Virginia Tech. Still, Ryan's experience in a tournament setting gives him a distinct advantage over the leader of the Sweet 16 surprise. | Advantage: Wisconsin |
