Hawks pick up 2010 hoops commitment
This time, Cody Larson wasn't taking any chances with the weather. The 6-foot-9 forward left South Dakota with several family members and his AAU coach at 2 a.m. and arrived in Iowa City in plenty of time to make his commitment to Coach Todd Lickliter and the Hawkeyes.
"I made my commitment this morning to the Hawkeyes," Larson said this morning at Carver-Hawkeye Arena. "It feels good to make my decision. Coach Lickliter was pretty excited. He had no idea that we were coming today, so it was a nice surprise for him."
Larson, who hails from Sioux Falls, SD and is part of the class of 2010, said that the comfort level with the coaching staff made the choice an easy one.
"On my first visit here a couple of weeks ago, I felt really comfortable with the coaches and I liked them a lot. This just really feels like a place that I can fit in," he said.
Larson said that the Iowa coaches had made three trips to his home in the past few weeks and after the last visit he sat down with his high school and AAU coaches and told them he was ready to make his decision.
With this commitment, Iowa has two verbal commitments in the class of 2010. Larson joins Chanse Creekmur from Marshalltown as commitments to the Hawkeyes.
