Minnesota pipeline continues in 2009
Mike Bruesewitz, a 6-foot-7, 190-pound from small forward from Mendota Heights (MN) Sibley High School made his first trip to Madison a few weekends ago and came away impressed with everything the university had to offer.
Two weeks later, thee three-star prospect became the first member of the 2009 hoops class to commit to Bo Ryan's program.
"Mike talked to the coaching staff last night and let them know he was ready to play for Wisconsin," Bruesewitz's high school head coach Tom Dasovich told BadgerBlitz.com Wednesday morning.
Ryan and his staff have had past success in the state of Minnesota with 2008 recruits Jordan Taylor[/db and [db]Jared Berggren set to arrive on campus in the fall.
Bruesewitz was accurate when he estimated his timetable for a decision two weeks ago.
"I'm kind of up in the air right now but I'm thinking I want to get it done before section play, which is in March," he said at the time. "I'm not going to say this is the day I'm getting it done with because there could be other options coming in. Right now I'm just playing it by ear and seeing what I like. It will most likely be sooner rather than later.
After his visit, Bruseswitz seemed to favor the Badgers, though Iowa, Washington State, Iowa State, Valparasio and Minnesota all showed interest.
"Hopefully I can come in and fill those big shoes of Joe Krabbenhoft and Marcus Landry," he said. "Those are pretty big shoes to fill, but I'm hoping just to come in there and kind of play that swing position for them. I can play the 3 or the 4, I can post up a little bit.
"I'm just really happy I got an offer; I'm really kind of surprised that the Wisconsin Badgers offered me, so I'm pretty excited right now."
