Blast from the past: Kemp interested in Cats
Kentucky fans will forever wonder "what might have been" when it comes to Shawn Kemp.
The high school All-American from Elkhart, Ind., was part of a monster signing class for the Wildcats in 1988, but never got to officially suit up for the Wildcats. He went on to enter the NBA at age 19, becoming one of the youngest players in the league at a time when it was not commonplace, and developed into one of the game's brightest stars.
Fast forward almost 20 years, and the name has come full circle. Shawn Kemp, Jr. is one of the top-rated players in the Class of 2009 and is receiving early recruiting interest from the UK staff.
Kemp (6-9, 215) has drawn interest from colleges that include: Kentucky, Cincinnati, Florida, Georgia, Georgia Tech, Clemson, Ole Miss, Oregon, Tennessee, Alabama, Nebraska, Texas, Washington, Colorado, UNLV and Kansas State
