Liggins talks Madness, helps Cats recruit
DeAndre Liggins was the first commitment in the 2008 recruiting class for new Kentucky coach Billy Gillispie. Liggins, a five-star guard out of Chicago, was impressed enough with Gillispie on an unofficial visit shortly after the coach arrived in Lexington, that he went ahead and committed to the Cats upon returning home.
Since that time, Liggins has transferred to Findlay Prep in Las Vegas for his senior year, to focus on basketball and academics. Liggins made it back to the Lexington campus again this past weekend, this time officially. He was in attendance for the very first "Big Blue Madness" with Gillispie at the helm.
"It was great," Liggins said of Madness. "Everything was great. We beat the No. 1 team in college football. I had a great time. Rupp Arena is crazy, man. It's the best place I've ever been to, college-wise. That atmosphere is very intense, and that will make me play better."
