GoldandBlack.com Purdue landed one of its top early 2009 recruiting targets on Wednesday, when D.J. Byrd or near-by Crawfordsville swung by Mackey Arena and pledged to his long-time favorite.
The 6-foot-5 wing from North Montgomery High School chose the Boilermakers early over offers from Indiana, Notre Dame, Xavier and Butler.
"I had it narrowed down to two schools - Purdue and Indiana - and I had to go with my heart," Byrd said.
