Hoops looking to McLaughlin in 2008
Now that the signing period is over for the Class of 2007, the Oregon State basketball coaching staff has moved on quickly to the Class of 2008. Head coach Jay John and his assistants spent plenty of time on the road at various tournaments during the April evaluation period, and more prospects have been identified and offered scholarships. Mark McLaughlin, a smooth 6-foot-5, 175-pound wing from Inglemoor High School in Kenmore, Washington, has quickly risen on the scene and the Beavers have stepped up in his recruitment after he had a big month.
"The spring went pretty good," McLaughlin said. "We just got back from Arizona from a tournament where we lost in the Sweet 16 to Pump N Run by two points in a game that we should have won, so we did pretty good. My jumper has been consistent in every game except for a couple and our team is very good. It's fun to play with everybody; we share the ball and we play hard - and we win."
