Summer 2007: Basketball Recruiting
With Michael Sanchez's recent decision to attend Arkansas next fall, Wake Forest looks to be done with recruiting for the 2007 year. At the same time, many questions surround James Johnson's progress in the classroom and our 2008 targets. DeaconsIllustrated is here to answer those questions.
The top issue surrounding Wake hoops is the academic standing of 2007 recruit James Johnson. The Cheyenne product, a borderline top fifty prospect, needs the appropriate test scores to receive admission to Wake Forest. The greater issue is whether Wake should lower admission standards to grant entry to Johnson. He may already have an acceptable score for the NCAA, but the university may be in a position to make an exception for the regular standards. Either way, Deac fans should know something in a week regarding his status.
