Are Vols Still on Top for Singleton?
When Bruce Pearl's staff started getting serious about evaluating 2008 prospects, one of the first players to emerge as a legitimate target was Georgia forward Chris Singleton. Tennessee was among the first programs to pursue the versatile Singleton aggressively, eventually earning the top-spot in his list of early favorites. The challenge for the Vols for the past few months (and maybe the next few as well) has been to maintain their position in the pecking order.
It's a challenge that's been made more difficult by Singleton's impressive play starting with his junior year at Cherokee High School in Calhoun, Ga. His stock continued to rise this spring, and after starting his junior year as a fringe top-100 prospect, he's now a top-50 player with the game to go higher.
