Vols Make Big Splash With First '08 Commit
Keeping top in-state talent at home used to be easier said than done from the Tennessee standpoint, but like much else in Volunteer basketball, that sentiment is rapidly changing. The point was pounded home this afternoon when Chattanooga big man Philip Jurick ended his recruitment by giving an early verbal commitment to Bruce Pearl and the Tennessee program.
He and his parents made the drive up from Chattanooga on Wednesday afternoon to meet with the coaches and to deliver the news personally.
Jurick (6-foot-10, 255 pounds) had been holding a firm offer since the spring of his sophomore year, and was a target that the staff pursued aggressively.
