Pittsburgh Jam Fest: Day Two Notes
Mike Pegram
Peegs.com Saturday for Peegs.com began with a trip to see '08 commit Eshaunte Jones lace them up in a mid-morning game for Blessed IJN as they took on the South Jersey Rockets. Two of the more notable teammates of Jones are the two Plumlee brothers from the Warsaw area, Mason and Miles. We featured Mason earlier this week but it was Miles that most impressed yesterday as he tallied 17 points in a 82-58 blowout win for Blessed. Miles is about a year and a half older and significantly stronger than his younger but taller brother. Mason, who looked about 6-foot-10 when we interviewed him after the game, only scored two points but showed excellent handling skills for someone of his size. The head coaches from Wake Forest and Stanford were there and the assumption was they were checking out Miles since he's an '08 player. Indiana had two assistants at this game--Ray McCallum and Rob Senderoff. We also noticed Illinois assistant Jay Price in the gym.
As far as Eshaunte, he led all scorers with 19 points. We interviewed him afterwards and he is still very solid with his Indiana commit and working hard in school to shore up his academics. Jones says he is leaning right now towards attending Hargrave Academy and following in the footsteps there of Armon Bassett and Jordan Crawford. Jones looks like more of a shooting guard than those two but did display some excellent passing skills yesterday.
