Loucks looking to visit the U
At one point Clearwater, Florida point guard Luke Loucks
was ready to narrow down his college choices but then coaching changes across the country brought new opportunity. Loucks is rated the number nine point guard recruit in the 2008 class at 6-foot-4 and he recently visited Georgia Teach. Luke also has several family ties in Minnesota and with Tubby Smith as Gopher coach Minnesota is attractive to Loucks.
This spring and summer Loucks is playing with Nike Team Florida and he's off to a rock solid start. The 6-foot-4, 192-pound point guard's play kept his squad in tight games at the Boo and his sharp shooting helped bring his team back when they were falling into holes. "Things are going pretty good although we did not come out of our pool in the Boo Williams with any victories but we were close in every game losing by two or four points," Loucks explained. "It was a good experience as we faced some really good teams and played some really big name guys. We should get a lot better as the season goes on." This weekend Team Florida is playing at the Charlie Webber tournament in Washington DC.
At 6-foot-4, Loucks is a smooth ball-handling, dead-eye shooter with the ability to create opportunities for teammates with his crafty passing skills. Luke has a number of high majors looking at him and that includes the school he most recently visited Georgia Tech. "That visit went very well," said Loucks. "My mom and I went up there for a day and we looked at the campus. We have already met all the coaches before and on this trip we were able to meet all the players." Yellowjacket head coach Paul Hewitt recently traveled to the Loucks home to offer Luke a scholarship.
