Q&A with GJ Vilarino
The first official recruit in the Billy Gillispie era at Kentucky is GJ Vilarino, a sophomore point guard from McKinney (Texas) High School. Earlier today, CatsPause.com got an opportunity to chat with the player's father, Gerry Vilarino, about the verbal commitment to the Wildcats. In this follow-up Q&A feature, we chat with GJ Vilarino about the factors that led him to choose UK.
CatsPause.com: Tell us a little bit about why you decided to give a verbal commitment to Kentucky and the timing behind your decision.
GJ Vilarino: I picked Kentucky because it's a top five program in the nation, they have a lot of tradition, and coach Gillispie is there now. I love coach Gillispie, so he was a really big factor. The fact that he's going to be at Kentucky just makes it that much better.
