Playoff test nothing new for Holman, Richmond

Peegs.com Tests of adversity are nothing new for Eli Holman. Innocent victim of a drive-by shooting, a suspension of nearly 14 months, it has been nothing but easy for the 6-foot-10, 220-pound post player.
This week he and his Richmond team got a new test. The temporary loss of head coach Roy Rogers and what seemed to be the loss of leading scorer Wendell McKines. Rogers has been out of town this weekend attending the funeral of his brother back in Louisiana. McKines, a signee of the University of San Francisco and one of the top two scorers in the nation (39.1 ppg), was originally reported to be under a season long suspension this week following a verbal confrontation with a Richmond staff member. But that decision was overruled in favor of further investigation after new information came to light according to school President Orlando Ramos.
With Rogers out, the Oilers were coached by Athletic Director Darren Zarragoza. He just had some minor J.V. coaching experience from 25 years ago so this was quite an undertaking. He was helped by current girls J.V. coach Robert Crain and boys assistant Lonnie Coleman.
