Kadji coming on strong with the high-majors
Coaches are continually looking for immediate big man help in the class of 2008 and Kenny Kadji of IMG Academy in Bradenton, Fla., seems to be an answer for a number of programs.
The 6-foot-10, 245-pound big man continues to improve his skilled game. He was one of the standouts at Nike Team Florida Workout last month, featuring the top players in the Sunshine State. Now the No. 40 ranked player in the class of 2008 is hoping to make bigger strides in junior season.
"I'm in good shape now and doing what a big guy should do," Kadji said.
That is rebounding, scoring on the blocks, blocking shots and passing the ball. His game is rounding out and the elite level programs are jumping into the fray.
Kadji said Florida (offer), Florida State (offer), Memphis (offer), USC, Georgia Tech, Kansas State (offer) and Connecticut are showing the most interest. Billy Donovan, Leonard Hamilton, John Calipari and Bob Huggins have all been in to see him this fall, he said.
Even with serious interest from the big time players, Kadji said he remains open.
"I really like all of those schools," the French native said. "They talk to me and they've give me a lot of information to look over. I know more about them than any other schools."
He did note that he will be watching teams a little closer this season, unlike last year where he just watched to become acquainted with the American game.
"I'm used to just watch for fun," Kadji explains. "Now I'm watching the game more and looking at the way the coach runs his plays and looking for where I can fit in and where I can play. I want to find a place where the big man runs the floor and they pass it to him and where the big man is a major position."
