Haynes sticks with the Beavers

Had things gone the way they were supposed to, Calvin Haynes would be preparing to enroll at Oregon State this fall. Instead, there's a different plan in place for the high-octane 6-foot-2, 185-pound combo guard from Taft High School in Southern California. Academics will dictate that his entrance to college be delayed, but will that entry still be to Oregon State?


Haynes broke down the current plan. "I'm going to South Kent Prep, where I'll finish out some classes that didn't go through the (NCAA) Clearinghouse," Haynes said. "It's kind of going to be an extra year for me to get faster, stronger, and better. I take it as a priviledge - I could be at some junior college wasting time. Instead, I'll work on my game as well as my academics."
