What is going on in Aggieland, basketball in July?
It didn't take long for the affects of DeAndre Jordan's commitment to Texas A&M to wear off on other highly-ranked recruits as Alief Hastings guard B.J. Holmes committed to the Aggies Monday, just four days after Jordan.
Holmes did have the Aggies in his top two schools, along with Georgetown, and whether or not Jordan's decision did way heavily on Holmes is unknown, but it is an awfully strange coincidence.
Either way, A&M head coach Billy Gillispie got who he wanted to round out the class of 2008 in Holmes, who became a priority, along with Jordan, after his MVP-like performance at the A&M Elite camp in June.
Finishing a class with the likes of Jordan and Holmes is ushering in a new era to Aggieland - one where basketball recruiting overshadows the start of Aggie football in July, even if only for a few days.
