Indiana targets Marion junior
As the summer moves along the best talent from the Class of 2008 is beginning
to emerge. Once such player appears to be Marion point guard Julius Mays.
The 6-foot-3 player turned some heads this winter for Marion High School and is
now doing so with the Indiana Elite Stars 16 & under team coached by former
Indiana player Dr. Steve Ahlfeld.
That team was participating last weekend
at the Hoosier Shootout at Warren Central High School and we had the chance
to catch up with Mays to get our first look and confirm some talk we had heard
--- that the point guard is quickly becoming a target of Big Ten and other
Purdue, Indiana and Xavier have shown the most interest while Cincinnati, Michigan State, N.C. State, Virginia Tech, Miami (Fla.), Penn, Western Michigan are also interested.
Early offers have come from Xavier, Western Michigan and Southern Illinois.
